Position Information


VEA Health is seeking a full-time Emergency Medicine Physician (MD/DO) to join a growing emergency department at Uvalde Memorial Hospital in Uvalde, Texas. This opportunity offers practice in a newer hospital with strong APP support, meaningful patient volume, and a collaborative rural care setting.

Qualifications


  • Board-Certified in Emergency Medicine

  • ACLS required

  • PALS required

  • APPs: ATLS required

  • 19 ED beds in a new hospital opened in March 2022

  • Level IV Trauma designation

  • Annual ED volume: 28,000 visits, averaging 77 visits per day

  • Pediatric visits: 29%

  • Physician shifts: 7a–7p and 7p–7a

  • APP coverage: 9a–9p and 2p–2a

  • Admission rate: 8.5%

  • Average patients per hour: MD 2.0, APP 2.0

  • Transfer rate: 8%

  • Specialty backup includes General Surgery, Orthopedics, and Obstetrics

  • EMR and CPOE: MediTech 6.0

  • Patient satisfaction score reporting and accountability
