Position Information
VEA Health is seeking a full-time Hospitalist Physician (MD/DO) to join a growing inpatient program at Matagorda Regional Medical Center in Bay City, Texas. This role offers a broad inpatient practice with APP support, open ICU coverage, tele-intensivist backup, and round-the-clock onsite hospital medicine presence.
Qualifications
Board-Certified or Board-Eligible in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine with hospitalist experience
ACLS required
BLS required
Position Highlights
Hospital services include 6 ICU beds, 30 Med-Surg beds, 12 observation beds, and 6 Women’s Center beds
14 ED beds
Level IV Trauma designation
Annual hospitalist encounters listed as 16,000, averaging 45 visits per day
Additional annual hospitalist encounters listed as 7,000, averaging 19 visits per day
Transfer rate: 5%
Admission percentage from ED: 6%
Physician coverage: 24-hour model with 7a–7p onsite, plus 7p–7a off-site telephonic accessibility to APP if needed
APP day shift: 7a–7p onsite
APP night shift: 7p–7a onsite
Open ICU with SOC telemedicine intensivist support
Teleneurology available 24/7 for ED stroke support only
Procedures not required
Specialties not represented on staff include Infectious Disease, Oncology, Hematology, and Gastroenterology; General Surgery supports basic endoscopy and colonoscopy
