Position Information
VEA Health is seeking a full-time Emergency Medicine Physician (MD/DO) to join the emergency department at Matagorda Regional Medical Center in Bay City, Texas. This opportunity offers a steady community emergency medicine practice in a Level IV Trauma Center with strong specialty support, APP coverage, and access to a broad range of on-site and telemedicine resources.
Qualifications
Board-Certified or Board-Eligible in Emergency Medicine preferred, or Board-Certified or Board-Eligible in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine
ACLS required
PALS required
ATLS required unless Board-Certified in Emergency Medicine
Position Highlights
14 ED beds, including 2 trauma rooms
Level IV Trauma designation
Annual ED volume: 16,000 visits, averaging 43 visits per day
Pediatric visits: 23%
Physician shifts: 7a–7p and 7p–7a
APP coverage: 10a–10p
Admission rate: 15%
Transfer rate: 5%, with the majority transferring to Memorial Hermann
Specialties represented on staff include OB/GYN, Pediatrics, General/Trauma Surgery, Podiatry, and Cardiology
Telemedicine Neurology and Critical Care support
EMR: Meditech
